Frodo, who was only in his tweens at the time, was saddened to find that Bilbo had gone. Bilbo left the Shire to live in Rivendell with the Elves. Gandalf soon convinced Bilbo to give up the Ring to Frodo. He made his way up to Bag End and Frodo eventually followed. At the end of the birthday speech, Bilbo placed the Ring on his finger and became invisible. In the middle, Everard Took and Melilot Brandybuck jumped upon a table and danced the Springle-Ring, and Bilbo simply continued. At the party, Bilbo made a Farewell speech. Frodo playfully scolded him at his arrival, saying that he was late. He also could not bare to miss Bilbo's farewell party. Gandalf had come to tell Bilbo it was time to leave the Shire and his Ring behind. Many young hobbits like him because he set off fireworks for their amusement. Gandalf, the Grey Wizard, who was an old friend of Bilbo's, also attended the party. He encouraged his friend Sam Gamgee to ask Rosie Cotton for a dance. Frodo too helped himself to some ale and jigged. Hobbits including Bolgers, Boffins, Brandybucks, Tooks, and Proudfeet set up under the Party Tree on Party Field and enjoyed dancing, drinking, and storytelling that night. The messenger service was very busy delivering letters in and out of their home. Most of the Shire attended the celebration. In 3001, on Bilbo's 111th Birthday, he threw a Farewell Party. The two enjoyed celebrating their birthdays together and throwing massive celebrations that all of the Shire attended. Also, Bilbo and Frodo shared the same birthday: September 22. Bilbo Baggins, Frodo's older cousin, took him in to live with him at Bag End under the Hill across the Shire in Hobbiton in the year 2989.īilbo adored his young cousin and raised him well.
